The beginning
My name is Ligaya, which means "joy" in Tagalog, the language of the Philippines.
Every few years, I travel back to the Philippines, where most of my family lives, primarily in Luzon, in the north of the country.
During these trips, my love for ube grew into something that went beyond just taste.
It became a feeling.
A memory.
A deep connection to my roots.
What started as a fascination,
became a passion.
And ultimately: a mission.
That's how Ubejoy was born.
Connected to the origin
Ubejoy is not a trend, it's a return to where it truly begins.
For me, this means more than creating a product.
It means giving back.
That's why we consciously choose:
- supporting local agriculture in the Philippines
- sharing ube (Dioscorea alata) as a pure, natural ingredient
- a product that is honest, transparent, and of high quality

Our ube is carefully cultivated in the Philippines.
Together with our supplier, who works closely with Filipino ube farmers, we bring the authentic taste of ube to the Netherlands.

PS: Many Filipino ube farmers are small-scale farmers. Official organic certification is often costly for them and therefore not always feasible. That's why we choose to be transparent about what we can guarantee: a 100% natural product, without artificial colors, flavors, and fragrances.
